Following the flood damage on Boxing Day, the club is asking for volunteers to come down to Salts Sports Site on Saturday 2nd January to help with the big clean up.
Some initial works have been done this week to clear some of the site. We have had help from the Army, HirstWood Regeneration Group and The Salvation Army, who’s help and support has been tremendous.
The following jobs need to be done on Saturday;
remaining sand from the drive needs shovelling back onto the river bank,
pavilion cellar clearing out,
containers emptying out and assessment of equipment damage,
compound clearing out and assessment of damage,
pavilion steps sweeping and jet washing,
removal of rubbish and damaged items to large skip on site.
There are volunteers coming from tennis, bowls and cricket so we will all help each other to get everything sorted.
The site is dangerous and not safe for children, so this appeal is for any volunteers over 16 years.
Please bring a spade or snow shovel and some gloves if you have them.
Even if you can only manage a couple a hours your help would be appreciated.
Please report to pavilion please when you arrive – 9.30am onwards.
Parking is extremely limited so please consider parking at hirst Lane or Roberts Park and walking in.
